Construction Update – June 2011

As summer approaches, interior finishing continues. Check out the latest photos, showing the birch flooring installed.

May 2011 Construction Update

Interior finishing work continued throughout the winter and early spring, and there are big changes! Take a look at the fireplace in the Great Room, and compare it with the previous photo – what a difference!

There is also progress to report upstairs. Hardwood floors are being installed, and they are beautiful! Sawn from locally-grown birch, the boards have a variety of shades, ranging from blonde to reddish-brown. Once they are sanded and finished, they will last a good long time.

Construction Continues at Blum’s Landing

It was a cold, hard winter, but Terry, Jan, and several volunteers continued to put in as much time as possible to bring this dream to life. Bathroom cabinets are in, tile work is done, kitchen cabinets are ordered, and the fireplace insert has been installed.

The amazing thing about this fireplace is that while burning, it can heat the entire building! When the weather outside was coldest, the fireplace kept the inside of the house comfortable without burning any propane. Take a look at the fireplace:

Pepsi Refresh Project Update

After two weeks of collecting votes at the Pepsi Refresh Project site, the Blum’s Landing project has climbed as high as the #62 spot in the voting for a $250,000 grant. During the past week, the idea has been floating in the low-to-mid 60, and is currently at #65. We need your help not only to vote, but to tell everyone you know about the project and ask them to vote too.

Voting is simple, and can be done in a number of ways.

  1. Register at the Pepsi Refresh Project website, and vote for up to 10 ideas every day.
  2. Vote for up to 10 ideas using the Pepsi Refresh voting app on Facebook.
  3. Vote from your mobile phone by texting 103349 to PEPSI (73774).

And, you can vote all three ways every day.  As Scrappy says, “Please remember to vote!”

Blum’s Landing at the Pepsi Refresh Project

Blum’s Landing is competing for a $250,000 grant at the Pepsi Refresh Project. If we are awarded the grant, we will use the money to build two family cabins (ADA compliant, and wheelchair-friendly) here on the property. The grants are awarded to the ideas that get the most votes during the month of October, and there are about 350 ideas competing this month for 2 available grants. We need your help, both to vote for Blum’s Landing, and to get the word out to everyone you know, so they can vote too.

In order to vote for Blum’s Landing, go to the Pepsi Refresh Project website and register. Once you are registered, you can vote for Blum’s Landing (and up to 9 other ideas) each day this month. Once registered, you can also vote from your mobile phone by texting 103349 to PEPSI (73774).

Thanks!
